The amount of laughter and genuine happiness that occurred during this photoshoot was nothing short of amazing! Not only do Courtney and Seth know how to have a great time together, but they also brought along their trusty dog to their engagement photoshoot! If you are ever wondering if you should bring your dog to a photoshoot…the answer is YES! At least if I am the photographer!

I love animals and definitely want you to bring them along as long as you think that your pet can handle it. Here are a few tips if you want to bring your dog to a photography session:

-Bring treats or a favorite toy for the photographer to hold near the camera.

-Bring a helper/friend/family member to either take your dog for a walk during the rest of the photoshoot or to transport them back home for you when they are done with photos!

-Have fun with it! Your dog does not need to be looking at the camera for every photo to be perfect, just like most photographers do not have their clients looking at the camera for every photo!

I have a soft spot in my heart for golden retrievers. I had a golden retriever when I was growing up and think that they are a wonderful dog breed! When Courtney and Seth asked if they could bring their sweet Westly along for their engagement photoshoot, I could not say yes fast enough! We had so much fun hiking up and down the paths on the edge of Lake Michigan at Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve. The warm summer breeze kept this photoshoot moving and grooving, especially when we were on the beach! The crystal blue water of Lake Michigan did not disappoint. This was one of my first beach engagement sessions and all I can say is I have become OBSESSED! I am so excited to see Courtney and Seth again when I capture their wedding day in a couple of months.
