This Wisconsin family portrait session was truly one of those experiences that reminds me why I love what I do. These Farm Family Photos were captured on this sweet family’s mini hobby farm, and from the very first conversation, I knew this session was going to be something special.

When Brooke first reached out about family portraits, we started chatting about locations. She mentioned that their family had recently begun building a mini farm right at their home and wondered if that could be the setting for their photos. She wanted images that felt real—her kids interacting with their animals, running around their land, and simply being themselves. I was immediately sold. There is nothing I love more as a Wisconsin family photographer than photographing families in spaces that truly feel like them.

I made the drive to the Appleton area with my camera and a full heart, and I’m still in awe of how meaningful these images turned out.

This young family has started a journey that will continue to grow for years to come, and that journey began with adding animals to their family. It started in a more familiar way with a sweet dog—if you look closely, you’ll spot Panda, who absolutely stole the show. But they didn’t stop there. Soon chickens and ducks were added, followed by sheep grazing nearby. Since this session, they’ve expanded even more, welcoming goats and even a miniature horse to their farm.

As a Wisconsin family photographer, seeing children grow up surrounded by animals and nature is such a gift. These two kiddos are learning responsibility, compassion, and curiosity in a way that only farm life can teach. Watching them laugh, chase animals, and proudly show me around their farm was pure joy.
