Hi, I’m Meredith—and if you’re here, chances are we’re about to work together in a really meaningful season of your life. Before we do, I want you to know who I am, where this business came from, and why I care so deeply about the people who step in front of my camera.
Because Meredith Mutza Photography isn’t just a business to me. It’s a story—one built slowly, intentionally, and with a whole lot of heart.

I took my first photography class my senior year of high school in 2012. I loved it immediately. There was something about freezing moments in time that felt powerful—even then.
But like many creatives, I was told photography couldn’t sustain a family. So I chose what felt like the “responsible” path and went to college to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. Helping people has always been at the core of who I am, and I truly loved that work.
Photography quietly stayed in my heart… waiting.

In 2017, while attending grad school in Stevens Point, I met Mark—my calm, supportive, endlessly patient better half. Life has a funny way of bringing people into your world right when you need them.
A few years later, Mark planned the most unforgettable proposal. We were traveling through England, France, and Italy when he surprised me at the Warner Brothers Studio in London—right in front of the Hogwarts set.
If you know me at all, you know I’m obsessed with Harry Potter. I had absolutely no idea what was coming. It was pure magic (pun fully intended), and still one of my favorite memories of all time.

We were married in June of 2019 at a church in Oconomowoc, with our reception at the Red Circle Inn.
At the time, I knew almost nothing about photography weddings. I had attended three weddings in my entire life—and had never been in one. Little did I know how deeply weddings would become woven into my future.

That Christmas in 2019, Mark and I bought my first camera so I could get back into photography as a hobby.
Then 2020 happened.
The pandemic shut down my medical clinic, and suddenly I had time—something I had never really had before. I started taking online photography courses and completely fell back in love with the art.
There was just one problem: I had no one to practice on.
Enter Pippin, my pet hedgehog.
From 2020–2021, Pippin became my very patient (and very spiky) model. I learned lighting, camera settings, and editing—everything. Somehow, this tiny hedgehog gained his own Instagram following of over 5,000 people.
He was iconic. And he taught me a lot.

In 2021, Mark and I bought our first home in Waukesha, welcomed our Saint Bernard Luna into the family and I officially opened Meredith Mutza Photography.
I continued working as a Speech-Language Pathologist while photographing in my spare time. Every dollar I made that first year went straight back into the business—saving for better equipment so I could start photographing weddings more confidently.
Around this time, I was also a dress representative for an online boutique. Mark would photograph me modeling dresses, and without even realizing it, he started learning photography too. (Spoiler alert: this becomes important.)

In 2022, my wedding photography work really began to take off. I loved being an SLP, but I was pregnant with our first child and had a dream of being a stay-at-home mom.
So I pivoted.
I reduced my SLP hours to focus on photography and growing our family. Mark joined me on wedding days as my second shooter—mostly to carry equipment and make sure I was taking care of myself. He loved it so much that he took photography courses of his own.
In 2023, our daughter Amelia was born—and everything shifted.
I was still photographing weddings and couples, but my heart was being pulled toward families in a new way. I finally understood just how fleeting these seasons are.

In 2024, I hired my first real business coach (who I still work with today in 2026), and everything changed. I realized photos weren’t meant to live in a cloud—they were meant to be held, seen, and passed down.
I made one of the biggest decisions in my business: I added products.
This was also the year I became pregnant with our second daughter, Emery. Here we are on a beach in Florida with my business coach!

In 2025, Emery joined our family, and we kept going—together.
I fully transitioned to a full-service photography experience, meaning clients never “just get digitals.” Every session includes physical heirloom products—albums, framed wall art, and pieces designed to live in your home.
Because these moments matter too much not to.

As we step into 2026, I feel incredibly blessed.
I’m a stay-at-home mom to two little girls.
Mark is my full-time second photographer.
Our wedding photography business is flourishing.
I take on only 8–10 weddings a year so we can protect weekends with our family.
And I wake up every day genuinely excited to do this work.
